WHIB FAQ

Quick answers about tracking, privacy, battery use, backups, and troubleshooting.

How does WHIB track where I’ve been?

WHIB records location crumbs as you move through your day and turns them into a timeline of places and journeys. It is designed to work automatically rather than relying on manual check-ins.

Where is my location history stored?

WHIB is designed so your personal location history remains on your device or in your iCloud backup rather than being sold to advertisers.

How much battery does WHIB use?

WHIB is tuned for efficient background tracking. The current App Store description says average battery use is under 3% per day, though actual usage varies by device and travel patterns.

Can I back up WHIB to iCloud?

Yes. WHIB supports iCloud backup so you can preserve your location history. Check the iCloud section in WHIB settings to confirm that backups are enabled and recent.

What should I check if WHIB stops tracking?

Confirm that iPhone Location access is set to Always, Motion & Fitness is enabled, and Background App Refresh is enabled. Restarting tracking inside WHIB can also restore normal operation after some iOS updates.

How do I move WHIB to a new iPhone?

The simplest route is to transfer or restore your whole iPhone. If that is not possible, create a current WHIB backup first and restore it after installing WHIB on the new device.

What is a location crumb?

A crumb is a recorded latitude/longitude point. WHIB resolves crumbs into useful place information so the app can build a readable history of your day.

Why might WHIB show unresolved crumbs?

Resolving a crumb requires a data connection. If unresolved crumbs accumulate, keep WHIB open on the Crumbs screen while connected so it can finish processing them.
